The community charter of Sapphaya
The municipality of Sapphaya, in collaboration with the Market Revitalization Club of Sapphaya, held a meeting to establish a community charter that serves as an agreement among the community, the municipality, and tourist receptions. The charter includes the following agreements:
- Management of transportation systems and tourist parking
- Waste management, including waste disposal (including public awareness campaigns on waste management in the area)
- Promotion of boat paddling instead of motorboats
- Regulation of hawkers and street vendors
- Clear signage and adequate communication materials
- Prohibition of graffiti or vandalism in the area
- Shoe removal before entering various sites such as accommodations or temples
- Prohibition of selling illegal substances in the area
- No smoking in public areas
- Advocacy for bicycle use and provision of bicycle rental services for tourists
- Discouragement of plastic foam usage and promotion of cloth bags
- Advocacy against the sale and consumption of alcohol in tourist areas
- Advocacy against the sale and consumption of alcohol in tourist areas
- Provision of cloth bags by the municipality for tourists to borrow or purchase at cost in Green Market
- Clear understanding and communication of market regulations
- Advocacy for purchasing local products and avoiding toxic substances
- Businesses should have grease traps
